It started around 8:15 last night (wed) with a report of a blue Ford pick-up truck in a collision in the Vanscoy area. RCMP called Saskatoon Police to advise them the truck had left the scene, eastbound, at a high rate of speed. 15 minutes later, the truck was spotted on 22nd street. Half an hour later, police received a report of an accident on the 25 hundred block of 8th Street. Again, a blue Ford truck was involved and had left the scene. Minutes after that, Air Support watched the truck travel eastbound on 8th, driving erratically, speeding, and weaving in and out of traffic. A patrol unit tried to stop the vehicle but the driver refused and continued east of the city. The Air Support Unit followed the vehicle to a location about 10 kilometres east of the city where the vehicle hit the ditch. Patrol officers then made their arrest. The driver is charged with Hit and Run, Evading Police, and Dangerous Driving. He is in court today.
Around 10:30 last night (wed), Saskatoon Police got a call about two people rummaging through vehicles in an alley on the 400 block of Avenue L North. The Air Support Unit kept an eye on two suspects while ground units got into position. The A-S-U watched as the pair allegedly stole bicycles and continued through alleys and yards. One was arrested on the 500 block of Avenue K North; the other on the 500 block of I North. A 23 year old man and a 22 year old woman are in court today facing several charges including Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Identity Documents.
