Sunday was Tax Freedom Day in Canada. If everything you earned went to pay federal, provincial and municipal taxes, Sunday was the day that most Canadians would start working for themselves this year. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says, this year, the average Canadians family, with two or more people will pay $50,464 in total taxes. That’s 43.6 per cent of its annual income going to cover all sorts of taxes at all levels of government. In Saskatchewan June 1st was our Tax Freedom Day. Only Alberta came out of the tax mire sooner, with Tax Freedom happening there on May 22nd.
