It’s my Parting Shot for my reactions to the headlines in today’s Star-Phoenix Sports Section…..
First headline…Special draft to help Broncos taking shape, S-J-H-L teams to make players available for team decimated by tragic bus crash. My reaction…the dispersal draft will need to address more than just how many players are protected by, and can be taken, from each of the other 11 teams. Age will also need to be addressed. With Humboldt losing pretty much all of its 24-man roster that was on the bus…either through tragic death from the crash, used up eligibility, injuries from the crash or, in the case of goaltender Jacob Wasserman, the likelihood of catching on with the W-H-L’s Regina Pats…S-J teams will need to make 20 and 19 year olds available to the Broncos. They can’t be expected to ice a team with only 17 and 18-year-olds!
Next headline…Capitals surging toward first Cup, Golden Knights finally rolling snake eyes while Washington cashes in on chances. Reaction…this is the best-possible storyline. Alex Ovechkin and the Caps finally win a title, the Stanley Cup makes appearances sometime this summer in Saskatoon with Chandler Stephenson and in Lloydminster with Braden Holtby and Las Vegas has a pro team to be excited about!
Last headline…Collaros the clear starter as Watford, Daniels vie for Number 3. My reaction…I could care less about who the third-stringer is…how many snaps is he going to get, aside from possibly being the short-yardage plunger?! Take note Rider Nation of what Murray McCormick is essentially saying…Zach Collaros will be the starter and Brandon Bridge the back-up, as it should be!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk...
