The Mayor of Saskatoon said don’t expect ride sharing in the city anytime soon.
Charlie Clark pointed out the transportation committee will get recommendations in about two weeks from city administration on proposed rules for Saskatoon.
But Clark addded they are still awaiting finalization of the recently announced provincial legislation and can’t implement local rules without the provincial framework in place.
Those details from legislators in Regina aren’t expected until the fall.
Meanwhile Clark has just returned from the Big City Mayors Caucus and Federation of Canadian Municipalities meetings in Halifax.
Clark said other municipalities have the same concerns as Saskatoon. Common problems include infrastructure negotiations with Ottawa, cannabis legislation, as well as drug use and crime and safety issues.
