Last year at an event highlighting funds to be handed out by the Saskatoon Community Foundation for Canada’s 150th with a special emphasis on reconciliation, and now the list of the first round of grants has been revealed. The Community Fund for Reconciliation is handing out $100-thousand in all. Some of the projects are the Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation, Metis language and culture resources for the protection and preservation of the Michif language, and bringing attention to employers about the business case for reconciliation. The idea of the grants is to partner non-Indigenous organizations with Indigenous people who will actively be involved in leading the projects.
