Thanks to the the intervention of a stranger, police say a woman and her baby were saved from kidnapping yesterday morning. Shortly before 9:30 a.m., Saskatoon RCMP got a call from a passerby saying they had seen a woman in the back seat of a vehicle screaming for someone to call police. The vehicle was southbound on Clarence Avenue in the RM of Corman Park and the witness provided a description of the suspect vehicle and the driver. Officers from several surrounding RCMP detachments and the Corman Park Police descended on the area and set up a perimeter in order to begin a grid search. While all that was going on, the Saskatoon Police Service got a call from the woman who was actually in the back seat and said she was there with her baby and their lives were in danger. No one was injured when police conducted a high risk traffic stop shortly before 10 a.m. A 27 year old man from Saskatoon has been charged with Kidnapping, Forcible Confinement, Uttering Threats and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
