Some might call it the most wonderful time of the year – the first long weekend of the summer. Many are heading to their favourite camping spots or visiting family and friends with thoughts of fun in the sun, and CAA Saskatchewan wants to make sure that happens with a few safety tips to add to the list. Spokesperson, Christine Niemczyk says before traveling, make sure your vehicle is ready for the trip. Included on the list, you should check your tires to make sure they aren’t low, and check for adequate tread depth and uneven wear. The same goes for whatever you are towing, from trailer to boat to recreational vehicle. Niemczyk advises to make sure everything is hooked up properly so the signal lights work and again, check the tires. Once you are on the road, take your time. There will be more people sharing the highway, so try to be patient and slow to 60 km/h when passing working tow truck operators, emergency vehicles and first responders.
