You may be wondering why you are hearing so much about road safety this week. The province spoke about road safety on Tuesday when highlighting their road construction projects for the season and the City of Saskatoon is highlighting bicycle and pedestrian safety. It is Canada Road Safety Week, with the RCMP is participating in with increased check stops and traffic enforcement. National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day is Saturday. Last year, 37 people died on RCMP-policed roads in 32 impaired-related accidents. Officers will be focusing on impaired, distracted and aggressive driving, speeding and seatbelt use during this week long initiative.
