It’s only mid-May but we have already had a busy season for active wildfires. There are 14 fires burning in the province right now. Nine are contained, one is being monitored. In one case, crews are actively protecting properties such as cabins and infrastructure. Three fires are not contained and, while crews are out dealing with them; the fires are expected to grow in size. So far, there have been 143 fires in the province. The five year average is 81.
