There has been a lot of news and incidents about Fentanyl overdoses but it is not the only dangerous drug out there.
During a Saskatoon Police arrest last year, officers seized multiple substances that were sent for analysis.
One was thought to be Fentanyl but turned out it also had DMT in it, which is an extremely dangerous hallucinogen.
Superintendent of Criminal Investigations, David Haye, says this solidifies what they and the Saskatchewan Health Authority have been saying for months – that what people think they are buying and consuming may in fact be mixed with other drugs.
He cautions the possibility of injury or death is high.
Police and other emergency services respond to overdoses on a regular basis.
Using naloxone can save lives and could buy the patient some time.
Last month the province announced free take-home naloxone kits for people who may witness an overdose, including friends and family of those at risk.
