The leader of the Official Opposition supports a $15 an hour minimum wage. Saskatchewan, paying just under $11, currently has the lowest minimum wage in the country. Ryan Meili says to meet the basic needs of people making minimum wage, $15 an hour would do that. He says the cost of living is going up and the Sask Party government has even raised the PST and put it on things where it didn’t exist before. So, he says, the government is making life less affordable. Premier Scott Moe says growing the economy is important to opening up more minimum wage jobs in Saskatchewan and not the other way around.
