The NDP is using the word hypocrisy for a decision in the provincial budget to reintroduce PST for used vehicles.
A release from the NDP caucus says in the past, former Premier Brad Wall had said the government should avoid doing dumb things and charging the PST on the same car over and over seems pretty dumb.
It’s estimated $95-million will be collected from this PST addition.
Municipal Relations critic, Nicole Rancourt wants the added revenue to be added to the calculation for municipal revenue sharing.
Government relations minister Warren Kaeding pointed out the significant support the government has given to infrastructure projects and the 89 per cent increase in revenue sharing from 2007-2008 until now.
