Krista DuChene, who crushed the Boston Marathon Monday, will be speaking at the Saskatchewan Marathon in Saskatoon. The Saskatchewan Marathon features a fun run for kids, a 5-K, a 10-K, the half marathon and the full marathon.
DuChene will be speaking at the pasta dinner the night before the run on May 26th. She finished third in the Boston Marathon behind Desiree Linden and Sarah Sellers of the United States, with a time of two hours, 44 minutes and 20 seconds.
DuChene announced before her run in Boston that, in addition to her family, she was running for victims of the crash that killed and injured members of the Humboldt Broncos hockey team. DuChene is the second-fastest Canadian female marathoner ever and to give perspective of her accomplishment, a tweet sent out indicated she was in 10th and almost 4 minutes back of 3rd place at the 35-K mark. The Boston Marathon this year not only featured its notorious hills but it was pouring rain and the wind at times was more than 40 kilometres per hour. The Saskatchewan Marathon is May 27th.
