People in the Gerald and Spy Hill areas, around Esterhazy near the Manitoba border, were among those who felt the earth move under their feet this morning.Mosaic mining spokesperson Sarah Fedorchuk confirms it was in one of their operations.
“The movement was felt at about 6:49 a.m. east of our K2 site outside of Esterhazy, and definitely by some people in the community. We believe…uh.. it is a settling event…over a previously mined area, an area we would have mined about 10 years ago.”
One resident said the shaking lasted 2 to 3 seconds, and it almost felt like something hit his house. (GX94 Yorkton)
