The different ways to help and honour the Humboldt Broncos in light of last weekend’s horrific tragedy continue to mount. The crowdfunding effort to help the families has raised more millions of dollars than anyone dared dream. As of this writing over $8 million from more than 100,000 donors had already made the campaign one of the top five largest in GoFundMe’s history. I keep hearing about different fundraising ideas to help the first responders heal. Hockey sticks have been sitting on front steps. Today Canadians are encouraged to wear a sports jersey to work in honour of the Broncos. I’ll wear my Saskatchewan Rush jersey because it has green in in it. If you don’t have a sports jersey you’re encouraged to wear something that has green and gold colours if possible. You know what gives me a warm feeling about all these efforts by so many to do whatever they can to show support for the families of the those killed or injured as well as the First Responders? It reminds me of how much good there really is in this world. Day after day the news is full of so many stories about all the bad and evil things that are happening in many parts of planet earth and it can make you wonder about the future of human kind. Then a terrible tragedy like this happens and the outpouring of sympathy and help from across this country and even far beyond our borders makes me realize how much good there is in so many people. There is comfort in that and hope for the future.

The Candian government wants the country’s banks to identify, in customers’ bank statements when they receive the carbon rebate, that it is labelled as such.
Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault says the lack of a clear identifier is contributing to confusion about carbon price rebates, so he is going to change the law if he has to in order to force the big banks to identify the carbon rebate by name when doing direct deposits.
The first rebate deposits in 2022 were labelled very generically, which meant recipients had no idea why they were getting the money.
T-D and B-MO have adopted the government’s requested “CdaCarbonRebate” entry, R-B-C and Scotiabank say they couldn’t make the change in time for the rollout, and C-I-B-C is still calling it “Deposit Canada.”
