Municipal politicians in Saskatchewan want changes made at a remote intersection where the Humboldt Broncos bus collided with a semi truck.
Six members of a family were killed in a crash in the same location in 1997.
Councillor Dale Poggemiller, with the Rural Municipality of Connaught, lives near the intersection and says there is no doubt it is dangerous.
He says it can’t be allowed to happen again.
The Humboldt Broncos team was heading to Nipawin on Friday for a playoff game when the crash occurred.
There were 29 people on the bus — the total is now 16 fatalities and 13 people injured.
The driver of the truck survived the crash.
Deputy reeve Ian Boxall says the municipality wants the Saskatchewan government to install rumble strips at the intersection and to put in lower speed limits.
Boxall says the highways department has agreed to meet with the municipality once the RCMP investigation is done.
