The Optimist Hill project has moved on to the next phase.
Tendering has begun for the snow hill at Diefenbaker Park with ground breaking expected sometime in May.
Co-Chair Joe Van’t Hof says they have raised enough money toward the 1.9-million dollar first phase to start the tendering process and are confident of raising the rest of the necessary funding.
The project got a 20-thousand dollar infusion of funds after making the final four of the Kraft Heinz Project Play contest. Co-op also donated 150-thousand dollars.
Van’t Hof feels that also gave the Optimist Hill campaign national exposure, putting the project in front of a lot of additional businesses and corporations.
Plans for the Diefenbaker Park project include a ski hill, tubing runs and a tobogganing hill.
