Regina Police say a 12 year old boy is facing charges in connection with an explosion on a school playground yesterday (wed).
A 12 year old girl suffered chemical burns and was taken to hospital. Police say the preliminary investigation indicates an improvised explosive device was created by mixing chemicals in a close container. It happened at an elementary school on the 6300 block of 7th Avenue North. Police are now investigating any potential threat posed by the student. The boy can’t be named because he is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He is facing charges of Using Explosives, Assault with a Weapon, and Mischief. He made his first court appearance this morning.
