The Saskatchewan Roughriders have hired Jeremy O’Day as their new General Manager and Vice President of Football Operations. The 44 year-old is entering his 21st consecutive season of service with the Roughriders. The former offensive lineman moved into the team’s front office in 2011 following a playing career that began in 1997 when he joined the Toronto Agronauts. O’Day spent two seasons with Toronto before signing as a free agent with the Riders in 1999. The new GM spent a total of 12 seasons on the Riders’ offensive line. This is O’Day’s second stint as GM of the Riders. In August of 2015, O’Day was named the 15th GM in franchise history. He held the position on an interim bases for the final nine games of the 2015 season. Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds says O’Day is a true leader and is highly respected throughout the CFL. O’Day takes over from former Head Coach and GM Chris Jones who resigned earlier this week to pursue a job in the NFL.
