The Saskatoon Fire Department confirms one person has died in the Thursday afternoon collision between a cube-truck and passenger car on Highway 5.
They responded along with the Aberdeen Fire Department, STARS Air Ambulance and Paramedics as well as RCMP after hearing about the accident at around 12 o’clock.
Saskatoon Fire officials say the man driving the car was dead and they had to remove the top of the car and the passenger door to get the injured woman out.
She was flown to Royal University Hospital with serious injuries.
RCMP say say the truck driver was assessed at the scene about 10 miles east of the city and there were no visible signs of injuries.
An RCMP accident reconstruction team continues to investigate and expect the highway to remain closed for a few hours.
