Fans of the Saskatchewan Roughriders will want to keep an eye on the N-C-A-A football semi-finals.
Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book was one of 10 players the Green and White revealed as being on their negotiation list Wednesday. The Riders would have exclusive rights to Book should he decide to play football in Canada.
Top-ranked Alabama plays Number 4 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl and Number 3 Notre Dame faces Number 2 Clemson in the Cotton Bowl on December 29. The winners of those games advance to the N-C-Double-A football championship on January 7.
C-F-L teams can claim exclusive rights to negotiate with up to 45 players by placing them on their list. Players can be added, removed or traded from the list at any time. Teams keep the majority of their lists private, but the C-F-L has recently begun revealing 10 players from every club twice a year. Partial lists were last revealed in February.
Saskatchewan also unveiled Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley as part of its negotiation list. His 12th ranked Nittany Lions will face Number 14 Kentucky in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1.
In addition, quarterback Joe Burrow of 11th ranked L-S-U will play on New Year’s Day against Number eight University of Central Florida in the Outback Bowl. Plus, North Texas quarterback Mason Fine will play this Saturday in the AutoNation Bowl against Utah State.
Meantime, the other six players on the partial Roughriders list are defensive end Nate Orchard of Utah, running back Terry Swanson of Toledo, running back Leonard Tillery from Southern, linebacker David Talley of Grand Valley State, defensive back Shawann Lurry of Northern Illinois and offensive tackle Jylan Ware of Alabama State.
