Saskatoon Police have a reminder for those wanting to use recreational cannabis: if you are consuming cannabis, obtain it legally through a permitted retail outlet. That after a search warrant was issued in the 300 block of Avenue S South. The search warrant stemmed from a traffic stop in the 300 block of Avenue H South around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday where officers say they seized cannabis and cash. Three people in total were arrested: two men aged 26 and 19, and a 31 year old woman. After the search warrant was executed, police seized bear spray, a machete, cannabis, Xanex and cash. In total 1,862 grams of cannabis and $3,200 in cash was seized. Two men, ages 20 and 31, were arrested in connection to the search warrant. Charges range from Unlawfully Possessing Cannabis to Sell and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance to weapons charges.

The Candian government wants the country’s banks to identify, in customers’ bank statements when they receive the carbon rebate, that it is labelled as such.
Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault says the lack of a clear identifier is contributing to confusion about carbon price rebates, so he is going to change the law if he has to in order to force the big banks to identify the carbon rebate by name when doing direct deposits.
The first rebate deposits in 2022 were labelled very generically, which meant recipients had no idea why they were getting the money.
T-D and B-MO have adopted the government’s requested “CdaCarbonRebate” entry, R-B-C and Scotiabank say they couldn’t make the change in time for the rollout, and C-I-B-C is still calling it “Deposit Canada.”
