Celebrating the world’s waterways will be front and center at Beaver Creek tomorrow (sun) afternoon.
Sunday marks World Rivers Day and Kent Lysak from the Meewasin Valley Authority says various activities are planned starting at 12:30.
Some of the events planned include guides who will be leading hikes and salamanders will be there for those in attendance to hold and understand how their lives are directly tied to the river system.
The events and activities run until 5 p.m. at Beaver Creek.
Lysak adds that the day is also about recognizing what everyday citizens can do to help protect the local river system.
He says that just simply turning off the tap while brushing your teeth can help by being water conscious and to do more natural things like using less chemicals in your yards as using pesticides can eventually make their way into the local water system.
The Beaver Creek Conservation Area is located 13 kilometres south of Saskatoon.
