Last Friday I talked about speed limits. Today is a good day to remind ourselves that school speed zones are back in effect. We have to slow down to 30 in such zones and don’t forget the Saskatoon Bylaw that was passed 5 years ago that says we aren’t allowed to make a u-turn in a school speed zone. I don’t recall ever finding the necessity to hang a u-eey in a school zone anyway. It does take some attention and mental effort to remember to take the foot off the gas pedal again in a school zone when we’ve been able to zip through them at 50 in July and August but it’s really important for the safety of the kids. Like I said Friday, the word “limit” means the point by which something does not or may not extend or pass. Remember the old saying, “Those who drive fastest past a school were likely the slowest going through it”. I’m beginning to sound like a teacher. Actually, when I was in high school contemplating how to earn an honest living when/if I grew up, I wanted to be a phys-ed teacher but somehow was sidetracked into the wonderful and wacky world of radio broadcasting.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
