The Committee on Governance and Priorities will be receiving a report from administration today regarding an update on the Strategic Plan. The focus of the report will reflect the priorities of City Council and the outcomes between 2018 to 2023. The updated plan also includes three important refinements including what is the city striving for, how the city measures success and what actions will the city take. A communication plan for the Strategic Plan has also been created. The Stategic Plan focuses on 10 priority areas including transportation, recreation, culture and leisure and downtown development.
The Governance and Priorities Committee will also be discussing whether or not to recommend to City Council if Council can conduct emergency meetings during an election period. In Saskatchewan, under “The Cities Act” an emergency is defined as a loss of life, harm or damage to the safety, health or welfare of people or damage to property or the environment. Other cities in the country have adopted bylaws to allow for emergency meetings to be called during an election period including Toronto and Hamilton.
Today’s (mon) meeting gets underway at 1 p.m. at City Hall.
