It is a significant day for Prince Albert National Park. Ninety years ago the park was officially opened by Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King. More than 3-thousand people were there to witness it. Prime Minister King remarked that, ” in the moulding of our national character, it is of utmost importance that we should cultivate an appreciation of all that is beautiful in our physical environment.” Far from the days of RVs and trailers with Wi-Fi and computers, many early vacationers erected shack tents on lots rented from the park. Now, Prince Albert National Park receives about 240-thousand visitors a year. There is a ribbon cutting and community coffee event at the Waskesiu Heritage Museum this morning (Fri) at 10.”
