It’s my Parting Shot for some Weekend Short Shots…
Last night’s game wasn’t one where I might cover my eyes and peek, occasionally, through spread fingers at! The Saskatchewan Roughriders gave the Eskimos all they could handle in Edmonton. If not for being stuffed on third down at the goal-line on offence and taking a pass interference call on defence that led to the winning touchdown, the Green and White might be above .500, instead of below, going into a second bye week!
One thing that became absolutely obvious last night, the Riders offensive coaches have a LOT MORE confidence in Zach Collaros at the controls than they do in Brandon Bridge and David Watford…as I told you they did! It wasn’t a wild, gun-slinging, aerial circus by an stretch of the imagination by the Riders, but Zach Collaros took his shots downfield. He didn’t take many shots either…which is encouraging for the rest of the season when it comes to offensive line play!
Aside from flipping by and seeing it on the screen, the Hockey Canada Summer Showcase of junior or Under-20 games isn’t capturing my attention. Obviously, because of the Saskatoon Blades’ content of Mitch Love, Nolan Maier and Kirby Dach with Team Canada, the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup will be must-watch T-V. But, I’m also betting N-H-L people are more interested in the Under-18 tournament than the Under-20 exhibitions…since the former are almost all eligible for the next N-H-L Draft!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
