The Provincial 9-1-1 centre is being taken over by the not-for-profit organization known as, “CanOps.” Up until now, the City of Prince Albert had been running the Provincial Emergency Communications Centre. The centre provides 9-1-1 service for all areas of the province except for the cities of Saskatoon and Regina which operate their own 9-1-1 services. Government Relations Minister Warren Kaeding says CanOps was selected to assume control after a public tendering process concluded this spring. CanOps will report to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
