The name of the man charged in the investigation of a stolen vehicle where a 3 year old girl was in the back seat has been released.
Terrance Nickerson of Medicine Hat, 42 years old, is facing charges including kidnapping, theft, dangerous driving and abduction of a person under 16.
On Tuesday afternoon, Creighton RCMP were told a truck had been stolen with a young girl inside.
It was headed toward Flin Flon across the border, so both RCMP Detachments responded.
The pursuit ended when the stolen truck ran over a spike belt and rear-ended a vehicle.
The driver fled on foot into the bush and the officers found the girl unharmed.
More police were brought in including a police dog team that found the driver hiding under an outbuilding.
Because Nickerson was injured, fracturing a rib in the crash, the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is investigating, as it does whenever there is a serious injury. He also received a dog bite.
