Nutrien is cutting 30 staff and 50 hourly positions at its Vanscoy potash facility. They are to take effect in the fourth quarter. About 585 employees are expected to remain at the site. Nutrien says the company is rebalancing overall potash production. President Susan Jones says, “We have provided opportunities for Vanscoy employees to transition to other roles since the beginning of 2018.” The company expects to have between 50 and 70 vacancies at other Saskatchewan mines over the remainder of the year. Nutrien says it will provide severance packages, assistance, transition programs, and information on existing openings for affected employees.
