Saskatoon Police are investigating what may be a crime that stems from racism.
Officers were told that early in the morning on Friday the 13th, a 67 year old man was on his way home from a religious service in his traditional clothing when he noticed a white truck cross the lane and head toward him.
This was in the 400 block of Cumberland Avenue South.
He heard a shout of something along the lines of: “What are you doing here?”
Police were told the man narrowly missed being struck and ended up falling into a bush and then was able to escape to his nearby home.
That’s when two bricks were thrown through the window of the home.
It’s believed there were 2 Caucasian males in the truck.
Police are investigating the incident but no arrests have been made.
The Saskatoon Police Service adds in their news release that cultural diversity makes our community stronger and the acceptance and respect of people that bring new languages, cultures and traditions not only enriches our community but contributes to its overall safety.
