The Metis Nation has a 500-million dollar commitment from the Federal Government to improve housing.
The Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs signed the agreement today in Saskatoon at the General Assembly of the Metis Nation.
Carolyn Bennett said the agreement comes after a long series of talks with the Metis Nation who identified affordable housing as one of their biggest priorities.
The ten year deal allows governing members of the Metis Nations in each province to identify and meet their housing needs.
Bennett said after spending a considerable amount of time building a relationship, it was time for Ottawa to deliver and give the Metis a chance to improve their quality of life.
