It’s my Parting Shot for a post-vacation thought…
Lots happened since I last did one of these on June 15…
The N-H-L Draft, John Tavares kicked off “Free Agent Frenzy” by signing with his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs, Ricky Ray suffered a likely career-ending injury, the Blue Jays continue to tread mediocre water in the American League East, the World Cup of Soccer is still on…and so on and so forth.
But, the big story, as it always is around here, is the Saskatchewan Roughriders! Once again, that big story is that Rider Nation believes the sky is falling!
“Chicken Little” may very well be right this time!!
Despite an opening week victory over Ricky Ray and the reigning Grey Cup-champion Toronto Argonauts, the Green and White have lost back-to-back games and are 1-and-2…all against teams from the, supposedly, inferior East Division.
The Riders have three more games against Eastern teams…the next two against the division-leading Hamilton Tiger-Cats, who look legit!
Off-season acquisition Zach Collaros suffered a concussion in Week 2 in Ottawa, Brandon Bridge was ineffective in the first half of the last game against lowly Montreal and a third quarterback was used in David Watford. Duron Carter has been exposed as a receiver trying to play cornerback and the fans are ready to string up G-M and head coach Chris Jones…demanding that Saskatchewan management fire his sorry butt!
Again!!
This time, I’m finding it hard to argue against “Chicken Little!”
I guess we’ll see what Thursday brings!
That’s my Parting Shot, I’m Les Lazaruk…
