Federation of the Sovereign Indigenous Nation Chief Bobby Cameron is pleased that a meeting is taking place tomorrow between government ministers and representatives from the Justice for Our Stolen Children Camp.
He says the meeting should have happened long ago and that there shouldn’t have been anything said from the government in regards to those in the camp causing violence to residents coming to the park for Canada Day festivities.
“I’m glad it’s happening but it should have happened long ago. We shouldn’t have had to bicker over Canada Day and the beer gardens and the potential of violence, that would never come from our side.”
Chief Cameron adds there wouldn’t have been any violence caused from those at the camp. Premier Scott Moe will not be attending tomorrow’s meeting in Fort Qu’Appelle however Justice Minister, Don Morgan; Deputy Premier, Gord Wyant and Social Services Minister, Paul Merriman are expected to attend.
The Justice for Our Stolen Children Camp has been set up in Regina’s Wascana Park since late February.
