A book written by Wakaw School’s Grade 4B students describes what hockey is all about from the game to the fans and the smell of the hockey bag, and at the launch on Wednesday, it was dedicated to the Humboldt Broncos and those affected by the fatal bus crash on April 6th.
Horizon School Division Director of Education, Kevin Garinger is also the President of the Humboldt Broncos.
He will share the book ‘If You’ve Never Seen A Hockey Game’ with the organization, the parents and families of those who died in the crash and the 13 athletes who survived.
Garinger calls the dedication incredibly touching.
He says the students were aided by their teacher and the School Division’s Writer-In-Residence, Sigmund Brouwer.
The class wrote mini stories about the experience and spirit of the game of hockey and drew the pictures.
The students have copies of their work, but Garinger says a meeting has also been set up to talk about the potential of a publisher, and possibly having proceeds going to literacy programs in the Division or Wakaw School. (pictures thanks to Horizon School Division)
