A two day traffic blitz was held in Saskatoon last week netting police 556 tickets in total. The vast majority were for speeding. On Thursday 148 tickets were written up for driving over the speed limit and on day 2 there were 190 tickets issued. In addition to speeding, notable infractions in terms of tickets written, included cell phones and seatbelts.
In the course of the traffic blitz, police also executed five warrants, and while investigating a seatbelt violation, arrested two men as well as seizing 3 guns and other weapons.
In addition to the 25 Saskatoon Police Service personnel participating in the STEP enforcement blitz, there were 25 other officers from RCMP, Regina Police Service, Corman Park, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Prince Albert, Ministry of Highways and Canadian National Railway.
