Those who live in the northern community of Southend and surrounding area remain evacuated with a wildfire still about 13 kilometres away.
Steve Roberts with Emergency Management and Fire Safety says the fire has grown to 55-hundred hectares, but it hasn’t grown toward the town.
The Woods Fire is also about 15 kilometres from Brabant.
Emergency Social Services reports that 579 people have registered after evacuating.
There are 278 at hotels in Prince Albert and 245 with friends and family.
In Saskatoon, there are 49 registered evacuees and in La Ronge, 7.
Spokesperson Deanna Valentine says a number of people are out on the lake in camps and villages and they don’t have a solid count yet for them.
Emergency Management and Fire Safety is working with town officials to make sure the community is secure and there is a plan for pets that are left behind to make sure they are getting some activity and are being fed.
A second fire where crews are protecting infrastructure is the Arthur Fire, which is adjacent to the McArthur River mine site.
Steve Roberts says the site is well protected because the area has been cleared, but they are working with Cameco to make sure infrastructure is protected.
