A tipi is back up at the Saskatchewan Legislature. It went up Thursday, to the sound of beating drums and applause, in the wake of National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations.
The Justice for our Stolen Children camp was pulled down and protesters arrested earlier this week. The group set up shot on the Legislature grounds in February following the acquittals of Gerald Stanley in the fatal shooting of Colten Boushie and of Raymond Cormier in the death of Tina Fontaine – the teenage girl from Manitoba. Both of the victims were Indigenous. The Saskatchewan government ordered teh removal of the camp citing safety concerns.
