An 18 year old woman driving a vehicle was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance with life threatening injuries while a 22 year old man from the Okanese First Nation, the passenger, was declared dead at the scene.

Fort Qu’appelle RCMP say this accident happened around 4:30 Tuesday morning on a slight bend of grid road 727 on the Standing Buffalo First Nation. The vehicle hit the ditch, rolled, and hit struck a power pole.

A second passenger, a 19 year old woman, was taken to Fort Qu’appelle hospital with undetermined injuries. The highway was blocked for several hours while RCMP, aided by traffic reconstructionists, investigated.
