A service that connects people to the resources they need has now been expanded from the web to being available by phone as well.
United Way of Saskatoon and Area and United Way Regina launched the 2-1-1 website a few years ago, and now that service is also available by calling or texting.
CEO of the Saskatoon United Way, Shaun Dyer, says it connects people any time of day or night in over 100 languages to find the trained professionals or services they need.
As an example, at tax time if you were looking for a free tax preparation service, 2-1-1 could help you find that service.
The 2-1-1 service could lead you to child care, affordable housing or mental health services.
There are over 5-thousand services and programs across the province listed through 2-1-1.
Dyer says having access to supports and services gives individuals and families a chance to prosper and when they prosper, so does the community.
