ManpowerGroup’s Employment Outlook Survey anticipates a downbeat hiring climate for the third quarter in Saskatoon. Spokesman Stephan Arman says the survey indicates seven per cent of employers plan to hire for the July to September quarter while seven percent anticipate cutbacks. 83 per cent of employers plan to maintain current staffing levels. Three per cent are unsure. Arman says, “With seasonal variations removed from the data, Saskatoon’s third quarter Net Employment Outlook of -4 per cent is a one percentage point decrease when compared to the previous quarterly outlook.” He says it is also a 17 percentage point decrease from the same outlook a year ago.
Darlene Minatel, Country Manager for ManpowerGroup Canada says, “Even though prospects are weaker in six of ten industry sectors compared to last quarter, we’re still seeing a positive hiring climate for most of the country.”
