The S-J-H-L held a dispersal draft Monday to help re-stock the Humboldt Broncos’ roster.
The Broncos selected 10 players…two 1998-born overagers and eight 1999-born…from nine of the 11 other teams. Melfort surrendered two players to Humboldt while Estevan will have a player plucked from them in the future and Flin Flon gained an exemption from losing a player to the Broncos. Of the 10 players Humboldt picked, one was a defenceman and nine were forwards. The Broncos will operate in the 2018-19 season, despite the tragic bus crash on April 6th that claimed the lives of 16 people…11 of them players. Most of the surviving 13 players aren’t likely to suit up with Humboldt this season due to age eligibility or injuries sustained from the crash. Following is the news release from the S-J-H-L…
Broncos Select Players from SJHL Teams
The Saskatchewan Jr Hockey League Board of Governors recently voted unanimously to provide players to the Humboldt Broncos.
The Humboldt Broncos have selected the following players from each of the SJHL teams.
Battleford North Stars – Connor Smith
Estevan Bruins – arrangement for player selection to be made in the future
Flin Flon Bombers – Flin Flon received exemption by Humboldt
Kindersley Klippers – Bryson Cecconi
La Ronge Ice Wolves – Shane Hounsell
Melfort Mustangs – Eric McNeilly and Ayden Third
Melville Millionaires – Ethan Kopyczyn
Notre Dame Hounds – Ahmed Ally
Nipawin Hawks – Austin Mikesch
Weyburn Red Wings – Jessie Young
Yorkton Terriers – Kyle Sargent
