Dennis Rodman tweeted Friday he is going to Singapore to, I guess, ostensibly act as a negotiator or liaison between North Korea and the US. THIS is what our world has come to? His official involvement was quickly denied by the White House but then again Rodman is one of the few Westerners to have personally met Kim. I’m just throwing darts at the dartboard here but I suddenly have a memory of high school history with Mussolini and Stalin when I hear political leaders in Italy describe the former KGB star, Vladimir Putin, as a great statesman. Granted Italy is concerned about an impact on their export market. THAT conversation actually stemmed from a push to have Russia welcomed back into the coalition of the world’s most favoured nations so it is once again the G8, not the G7. Of course the weekend meeting was again peppered with threats of ending NAFTA. My conclusion? At the end of his tenure my greatest fear is that all Donald Trump will have left us with is a rabid appetite for unrest and the bizarre, but then again there is always the Ford family.
