John Dolan school in Saskatoon has never had a playground. But after this year it will. Up till now, In order to enjoy a playground, students at John Dolan School have had to go to other playgrounds and often it isn’t wheelchair accessible.
Ground breaking on the new outdoor sensory playground will be this July. Principal Kathleen Underwood says the playground is possible thanks to private donations, and the Kinsmen Foundation, and will be completely wheelchair accessible.
Meantime, it is Lemonade Day at John Dolan School in Saskatoon. That means, regardless of rain, staff and students are out selling lemonade at lemonade stands between 12:30 and 2 p.m. on Arlington Avenue to raise money for an outdoor sensory playground. John Dolan services intensive-support students for children starting at age 3 who require a high level of care.
The playground is slated to cost 500,000 dollars which includes construction and this fundraising goes towards their maintenance fund.
There are 45 students enrolled at John Dolan School which is located on Arlington Avenue in Saskatoon.
