The Saskatoon Police Service thanks those that helped in an arrest Tuesday night, however the message remains that they don’t encourage the public to put themselves in danger.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of 22nd Street West and Betts Avenue for a report of a man walking with a knife.
A patrol officer asked the man to stop, but instead he took off on foot.
Police say the officer was able to grab the suspect as he was trying to get over a fence, and there was a struggle.
It was reported the man was extremely aggressive and believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant.
Members of the public helped the officer to subdue the man, and a second knife was found. There were no serious injuries.
A 30 year old Saskatoon is facing a number of charges including resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a weapon dangerous to the public.
