Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the Premiers of Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan on Wednesday about Canada’s trade issues with the United States, and more specifically the upcoming decision on whether the U.S. will impose tariffs on exports of Canadian steel and aluminum.
Trudeau thanked Premier Scott Moe, Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard for their ongoing cooperation and noted the importance of the steel and aluminum sector in each of these provinces.
The Prime Minister and the Premiers agreed to stand together to defend the industry from unwarranted tariffs.
The exemptions are due to expire on Friday.
