Legislation has passed in the house, giving ride-sharing companies the green light to operate in Saskatchewan. Minister Responsible for SGI Joe Hargrave says many things still need to be worked out, including how driver’s insurance works. Hargrave says he knows this might upset taxi companies but, he says, it’s a changing world and that business model has to change. Hargrave says there are plenty of ride-sharing companies which could do business here. Spokesperson for Lyft Matt Patton says discussions about how to get Lyft on the road here are still in their infancy. However, he says they’re still expecting to, one day, operate in Saskatchewan.
