Line-up questions…just a small part of the big picture going into the final game of the round-robin where thee query around the Memorial Cup is who is going to win between the Regina Pats and the Swift Current Broncos.
“Yes,” was the one-word answer from Pats’ G-M and head coach John Paddock as to whether Max Paddock would start in goal. When the reporter pressed for an explanation as to why he was going with his nephew in net, Paddock responded with, “It’s his turn.”
On the Swifty side, ever since their opening game of the tournament, head coach Manny Viveiros faced the question about the status of injured star forward Tyler Steenbergen.
“Game-time decision,” answered Viveiros…again!
Steenbergen suffered an Upper Body injury in the second period of the Broncos’ first game of the tournament Saturday against Acadie-Bathurst.
The big question of who will win brings about two possible scenarios. A Regina win and Swift Current is done with Acadie-Bathurst going directly to the final. But, a Broncos triumph means Hamilton goes to the final while Speedy Creek and the Pats will play again Thursday in a third place tie-breaker.
