I think we may have a gremlin in our building’s HVAC system. Look at the weather forecast for the next few days. This is NOT the time to discover our air conditioner needs a new compressor and the parts won’t be available until Friday. I asked if it couldn’t be done sooner and they said Vic, anyone who wants a rush job really badly will more than likely get it that way. We actually have two compressors and only one is down. That might sound like good news, but I’m told that because we have a two-storey building, the 2nd floor will get quite hot but, ironically, the 1st floor will be cold because the remaining compressor will be working overtime to try and keep the whole place cool. I guess it’s the old hot air rises and cool air sinks thing. If you have reason to be at our radio studios this week you may find the first floor staff bundled up and the upstairs gang in shorts. I’d better send an email to upstairs staff reminding them that if they start feeling irritable at some point due to the heat to pop downstairs until they cool down, externally and internally. I’m actually not too worried about our employees. They react to a crisis with the utmost decorum. The shouting and screaming are only coincidental.
