The third day of on-field work for the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ training camp offered up another set of roster moves.
Canadian defensive lineman Eddie Steele was activated from the injured list while a pair of defensive back prospects were signed…Canadian Tristan MacDonald-Doughlin and import Daniel Davie. To make room, former C-F-L and N-F-L defensive back John Ojo was released, along with import defensive back Nick James. Helping the matter was Canadian offensive lineman Jeremy Zver retiring.
“They just, physically, weren’t ready,” said Riders General Manager and head coach Chris Jones about the releases of Ojo and James. “They were just too rusty.”
Thanks to a track meet Tuesday at Griffiths Stadium, the Green and White practiced at Saskatoon Minor Football Field. They’ll be back at Griffiths Wednesday, then revert to S-M-F for Thursday and Friday as the Bob Adams-Saskatoon high school track and field championships occupy Griffiths Stadium.
